Arab League Welcomes Progress Made by LPDF

On Wednesday, the Arab League welcomed the positive progress being made by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF).

An official source praised the recent adoption of a mechanism for selecting the executive authority for the next transitional period, according to Akhbar Libya 24 news website.

The source also praised the effort exerted by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), in sponsoring settlement paths between the warring parties. He confirmed the league’s commitment to continuing its support and close cooperation with the UN Acting Representative, Stephanie Williams. As well as with the new Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Jan Kubis when he takes office.

The source stated that the Arab League Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit telephoned Kubis and discussed the latest political, security, and economic developments in the Libyan conflict. They also agreed to intensify joint Arab-international work to reach a permanent solution in Libya.
