On Saturday, the municipality of Sirte said a meeting was held to discuss a number of issues related to taking measures and arrangements, as the city hosts meetings for a session of the House of Representatives (HoR) in the coming days.

In a press briefing, the municipality said that 3 committees will be formed, the Services Committee, the Media Committee and the Reception Committee.

Members of the Libyan HoR will hold a session next Monday and Tuesday, with the aim of giving confidence to the interim government and electing a new parliament speaker.

In a statement issued last week, the Members of Parliament said that they are in contact with the Joint Military Commission (JMC) 5+5 to determine the exact location of the meeting. The session will be held in Sirte or Sabratha cities.

The statement added that the presidencies of the two HoR’s in Tobruk and Tripoli were invited to attend the next session. “A new parliament speaker will be elected. He should be from Southern Libya, according to what was agreed upon at the Cairo Declaration,” the statement noted.
