On Tuesday, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya stated that the World Food Program (WFP) has successfully delivered meals to schoolchildren and their families to their homes. This comes in coordination with the Ministry of Education to ensure that the school feeding program continues to operate under the quarantine measures taken to restrict the spread of Covid-19.

The WFP provides monthly and emergency food assistance to 100,000 internally displaced people, returnees and host communities, in addition to 25,000 migrants living in urban areas. The WFP is part of the UN Rapid Response Mechanism, an inter-agency effort to ensure that newly displaced people receive emergency assistance within 72 hours.

According to the 2020 Humanitarian Response Plan for Libya, around 900,000 people are in need of humanitarian assistance.
