The eastern-based Interim Government of Libya applauded the efforts of the EU in launching Operation “IRINI” to monitor the arms embargo on Libya and prevent the illegal flow of weapons into the country.

According to the Russian news agency ‘Sputnik’ on Sunday, the director of Foreign Media for the Interim Government said: “We appreciate the efforts made by the EU to implement the UN Security Council resolutions on banning the supply of arms to Libya and preventing the illegal flow of weapons to armed and terrorist groups.” He added that they believed there were countries, especially Turkey, that continued to supply weapons regardless of the embargo.
