On Wednesday, the Deputy Chief of Mission for the US Embassy, Leslie Ordeman and USAID Libya Representative, John Pennell met with the Chairman of the High National Electoral Commission in Libya (HNEC), Emad Al-Din El-Sayeh in Tripoli.

The US Embassy said in a statement that the two sides discussed the ongoing US technical support for Libya’s upcoming elections.

“As Ambassador Norland regularly emphasizes, the United States supports elections on December 24 to fulfill the LPDF roadmap, and to fulfill the expectations of the Libyan people,” Ordeman said.

Notably, Ordeman and Pennell also met with Brigadier Ali Alnawasri, from the Ministry of the Interior to discuss the Ministry’s work in ensuring that Libyans are able to safely and freely vote on 24 December.
