Osman Abdel Jalil, the Minister of Health appointed by the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR), has pledged to meet the needs of the Bouchoq Martyrs Clinic “as soon as possible.”

This announcement came during his tour to inspect the conditions of displaced persons from Sudan and the healthcare facilities in the city, including the integrated Bouchoq Martyrs Clinic.

Minister Abdel Jalil examined the existing capabilities and services offered at the clinic, listening to a comprehensive briefing by the clinic’s director and healthcare staff. Community elders also shared insights into the quality of services provided and outlined the necessary requirements for enhancing them.

The commitment to improve healthcare services underscores the government’s initiative to prioritize the well-being of Kufra’s residents, particularly amidst increasing demands posed by the displacement crisis. This move aligns with broader efforts to bolster Libya’s healthcare infrastructure and ensure timely and effective care for its citizens.

Notably, the Prime Minister of the Libyan Government-designate Osama Hammad has issued directives for the establishment of a new university in the Kufra Municipality, named Kufra University. The university will enjoy legal personhood and financial independence and will operate under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

This initiative is outlined in Decision No. 119 of 2024, which mandates the Ministry of Higher Education to undertake the necessary procedures for accrediting the internal system of the university, including its colleges and departments, to ensure the smooth progression of the educational process.

Dr. Mansour Mohamed Ali Buiaydah has been appointed as the president of Kufra University. He will perform his duties in accordance with the prevailing laws and legislation.

The establishment of Kufra University marks a significant step in enhancing educational infrastructure in one of Libya’s remote areas, aiming to boost local development and provide higher education opportunities to residents in and around Kufra.
