The Prime Minister of the Libyan Government-designate, Osama Hammad, has directed the implementation of comprehensive solutions to enhance the state of the electricity network in the cities of the Green Mountain region.
In a statement, the government announced that the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Awad Al-Badri, along with ministry directors, had arrived in the city of Al Bayda.
Minister Al-Badri held a broad meeting in the Parliament Hall to discuss the conditions of the electricity network in Al Bayda and surrounding areas. The focus was on identifying obstacles and finding immediate solutions to improve performance.
The meeting reviewed the technical work necessary for the maintenance of distribution and transformation stations, and assessed the state of transmission and distribution lines in the local network of the Green Mountain area.
Al-Badri issued a decision to form an emergency committee that includes all directors of the General Electricity Company in the Green Mountain and Benghazi. The committee is tasked with monitoring the network’s conditions and preparing it for the upcoming winter season.
Libya has been in chaos since a NATO-backed uprising toppled longtime leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. The county has for years been split between rival administrations.
Libya’s economy, heavily reliant on oil, has suffered due to the ongoing conflict. The instability has led to fluctuations in oil production and prices, impacting the global oil market and Libya’s economy.
The conflict has led to a significant humanitarian crisis in Libya, with thousands of people killed, and many more displaced. Migrants and refugees using Libya as a transit point to Europe have also faced dire conditions.

Despite the ceasefire, security remains a significant concern with sporadic fighting and the presence of mercenaries and foreign fighters. The unification of the military and the removal of foreign forces are crucial challenges.
