Libya’s Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohamed Al-Hwaij, met today with Serbian Ambassador to Libya, Dragan Todorovic, to discuss the upcoming Serbian Industry Exhibition in Tripoli, scheduled for January 2025. The meeting also covered preparations for the Libya-Serbia Business Forum, which will take place alongside the exhibition.
The discussions took place at the Ministry of Economy and Trade headquarters in Tripoli, where both sides focused on enhancing economic and trade relations between the two countries. They also explored opportunities for official visits involving business leaders from both nations.
Al-Hwaij emphasised the importance of strengthening commercial and investment ties between Libya and Serbia. He expressed Libya’s readiness to facilitate Serbian companies and investors entering the Libyan market, particularly in key sectors like agriculture, industry, health, and education. He also extended a formal invitation to Serbia’s Minister of Economy to visit Libya to deepen these economic relations.
For his part, Ambassador Todorovic highlighted the Serbian government’s strong interest in expanding cooperation with Libya’s Government of National Unity. He also conveyed a formal invitation for Al-Hwaij to visit Serbia in the near future.
Al-Hwaij had previously met with Serbia’s Minister of Trade during the 13th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization, held in Abu Dhabi in February 2024, marking another step in strengthening bilateral economic cooperation.
