As a continuation of the success achieved by the inaugural International Public Prosecution Book Fair in Libya, held from October 16 to 25, 2024, the Center for Criminal Research and Training at the Libyan Attorney General’s Office has taken steps to participate in the 56th edition of the Cairo International Book Fair, a globally renowned cultural and intellectual event.
This participation aims to strengthen Libya’s connections with international and regional research and training institutions. Additionally, it seeks to enhance the visibility and engagement of the second edition of Libya’s Public Prosecution Book Fair by fostering collaboration and exchanging expertise.
The Libyan delegation also organized two legal and judicial activities within the cultural program of the Cairo International Book Fair. These activities highlight the pivotal role of culture in preventing and reducing crime, reinforcing the mission of the Libyan Attorney General’s Office to promote legal awareness.
The Libyan pavilion witnessed significant interest during the opening ceremony of the fair, attracting several visitors, including Egypt’s Minister of Culture, who was briefed on the Center’s objectives and mission.
This participation marks a significant step for Libya in positioning itself as a key player in the fields of culture, research, and law on an international stage.

Libya’s economy, heavily reliant on oil, has suffered due to the ongoing conflict. The instability has led to fluctuations in oil production and prices, impacting the global oil market and Libya’s economy.
The conflict has led to a significant humanitarian crisis in Libya, with thousands of people killed, and many more displaced. Migrants and refugees using Libya as a transit point to Europe have also faced dire conditions.
The planned elections for December 2021 were delayed due to disagreements over election laws and the eligibility of certain candidates. This delay has raised concerns about the feasibility of a peaceful political transition.
Despite the ceasefire, security remains a significant concern with sporadic fighting and the presence of mercenaries and foreign fighters. The unification of the military and the removal of foreign forces are crucial challenges.
