The Sirt Free Zone announced on Saturday the inauguration of the first international shipping line through the Port of Sirt, marking a new milestone in activating commercial and logistical operations in the region.

In an official statement, the Free Zone confirmed the arrival of the vessel AM, operated by the Mediterranean Sea Shipping and Maritime Agency Company, carrying more than 2,500 tons of goods. The ship’s docking at Sirt Port signals the official launch of the new international maritime route.

According to the statement, the initiative highlights Sirt’s growing strategic importance along Libya’s central coastline and its potential to serve as a vital logistics hub linking Africa with Europe. The move is expected to enhance commercial activity, attract investment, and support the development of the maritime transport and logistics sectors.

The launch of this new shipping line aligns with national efforts to diversify Libya’s economy, revitalize trade routes, and integrate the country more effectively into regional and international supply chains.
