Med Sky Airways has announced a new destination as part of its expanding network, revealing plans to launch direct flights to Madrid, marking a significant step in strengthening air connectivity between Libya and southern Europe. The airline described the route as “a new opportunity to discover one of Europe’s great cultural capitals,” signalling its intention to broaden travel options for Libyan passengers across the Mediterranean region.

In a brief statement, Med Sky Airways said the upcoming route to the Spanish capital reflects its commitment to enhancing international access and providing travellers with diverse tourism and business opportunities. The carrier noted that the first flights to Madrid will commence “very soon,” hinting that the launch date is closer than expected, with further operational details to be unveiled shortly.

The expansion to Spain comes as Libya’s aviation sector continues efforts to resume wider international operations following years of disruption. Med Sky Airways has positioned itself as one of the emerging carriers contributing to this revival, offering new links aimed at strengthening Libya’s presence in regional aviation markets.

Industry observers view the new Madrid route as an important development, both for Libyan travellers seeking broader European access and for fostering future economic cooperation between Tripoli and Madrid. The airline has recently promoted tourism-focused messaging around its destinations, presenting the Madrid service as a connection to “the heart of Spain, the city of art and culture.”

Med Sky Airways has not yet disclosed flight frequencies, schedule details, or ticket availability, but the airline encouraged passengers to “stay tuned” for imminent updates. The announcement forms part of a broader strategy to increase Libyan outbound and inbound mobility, improve regional integration, and re-establish Libya as a key player in Mediterranean aviation.
