Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives Aqeela Saleh held a meeting in Benghazi with Saud Al-Hajilan, First Deputy Speaker of the Asian-African Parliamentary Council, to discuss final preparations for the council’s second general conference.
The meeting was attended by Abdullah Al-Masri Al-Fadil, Head of the Office of the Libyan House of Representatives, and Fayez Al-Shawabkeh, Secretary-General of the Asian-African Parliamentary Council. The discussions focused on organisational arrangements for the upcoming conference, which will be hosted by the city of Benghazi.
According to the Libyan House of Representatives, the meeting reviewed ways to ensure the success of the event and achieve its goals. Participants stressed the importance of the conference as a parliamentary platform bringing together representatives from Asian and African countries.
The talks also focused on strengthening parliamentary partnership between the two regions and supporting the exchange of expertise and experience in different legislative fields.
Participants underlined the need to continue promoting parliamentary dialogue and cooperation among member states, in a way that serves shared issues and strengthens relations between peoples and countries across Asia and Africa.
