On Sunday, Afriqiyah Airways announced that it would begin operating direct flights from Benghazi to Alexandria. This is set to begin on Tuesday, 10 November.

Hisham Al-Kamoushi, the company’s head of schedules at the commercial planning department, said that the flights to Alexandria will be operated on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The take-off will be at 11:40 am, while the return flight will be at 14:15 pm. He added that flights from Tripoli to Alexandria will be announced soon.

On 16 October, an Afriqiyah Airways plane arrived at Benina International Airport from Mitiga International Airport. This was the first scheduled flight from Tripoli to Benghazi in the past two years. On board the flight was a delegation from the Afriqiyah Airways Company, along with members of the Airports and Civil Aviation Authorities (ACAA), as well as representatives of the Ministry of Transport in the Government of National Accord (GNA).

In October, the Libyan Airports Authority (LAA) announced that the head of Egypt`s Civil Aviation Authority, Ashraf Noir, had approved the request submitted by Afriqiyah Airways for its 2020/2021 winter flight schedule.

The LAA explained that the flight schedule for the winter season will commence with five flights a week. The authority added that the flights between Libya and Egypt will begin provided that compliance with the air routes is taken into account.
