On Monday, Libya’s Minister of Interior Khaled Mazen met with the Director of the General Department of Training, Fathi Aoun to discuss the activation of internal and external security training.

In a statement, the meeting discussed activating security training at home and abroad, and the role of training institutions in the General Administration of Training in security development and rehabilitation. The meeting also dealt with the “upgrade mechanism for the year 2021, and the extent of the infrastructure readiness of training institutions in this regard.”

The meeting included the Directors of the Public Works Company and Public Services Company in Tripoli, where a number of issues related to the maintenance of the administration’s headquarters in the Salah Al-Din area were discussed.

Libya has recently witnessed positive developments following a breakthrough in which rival parties agreed on a new unified government on 5 February, that is set to govern Libya in the lead-up to national elections on 24 December. Libyans hope the new government will end years of civil war that have engulfed the country since the ouster and killing of strongman Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
