On Wednesday, security forces at the Ghot Al-Shaal police station arrested a 47-year-old man who severely beat his 4-year-old child to death.

The police said upon receiving the report, the victim was taken to Abu Salim Hospital with “multiple injuries to his body, which appeared to be as a result of being beaten,” according to a statement released by the Tripoli Security Directorate.

The statement added that the investigation team rushed to the hospital and questioned the child’s uncle regarding the incident, who revealed that the boy was severely beaten by his father. The child’s mother also reported issues with her husband since 2017.

The Public Prosecution ordered that the child be examined by a forensic doctor, who confirmed the cause of death was trauma.

According to the statement, the father would be charged with murder, upon completion of the investigation.
