Ahmed Maiteeq, Vice President of the Government of National Accord’s (GNA) Presidential Council, held a telephone conversation with US Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland. They discussed the country’s economic situation in light of the escalating conflict and the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the call, the two stressed the importance of ending the current division of financial institutions to ensure the success of the economic reforms programme initiated by the GNA.

Maiteeq spoke about continuing economic dialogue under the auspices of the UN and enforcing the resolutions of the Berlin Conference.

This would allow the country to reach a consensus on a comprehensive political roadmap, bringing together all Libyan citizens.
