First Libyan Civil Aviation Event to Be Held in November

July 26, 2022

Libya will host a conference devoted to the civil aviation industry for the first time on 6-8 November 2022. The Libya Aviation Forum & Expo will be held in Tripoli, and will showcase development initiatives in the infrastructure and services sectors to revitalise the nation’s aviation industry.

Civil aviation first flew in Libya in 1953. A decade later, in 1964, the Kingdom of Libya Airlines was established, which later became the Libyan Arab Airlines. Afriqiyah Airlines, a 2002 establishment, is another state-owned airline. The 2007-founded Libyan African Aviation Holding Company is the sole owner of all publicly traded airlines.

The industry has experienced more prosperous times, and served as a crossroads for Southern Europe, Western Europe, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Since 2011, the nation has had to contend with additional difficulties and a developing private sector. In 2014, Tripoli International Airport was destroyed in militias clashes, and today, the city’s sole airport remains Mitiga International.

Other operating airports in the nation include Misrata International Airport, Benina International in Benghazi, and the Sebha and Zintan regional airports.

The forum and exhibition will be a focused event with professionals, experts, and stakeholders to talk about and clarify the current and upcoming demands of the aviation industry. The conference will include discussions on business, infrastructure, services, and development while bringing together public and private players from across the world.
