France’s Ambassador to Libya, Mostafa Mihraje, confirmed that Libya’s capabilities enable it to overcome obstacles.

In a tweet, Mihraje said that 2023 is the year of reviving bilateral relations between Libya and France. He expressed his wishes for the Libyan people to enter the year 2023 with peace, security, stability and prosperity.

Last month, the Libyan Minister of Labour and Rehabilitation, Ali Al-Abed, held a meeting with France’s Ambassador to Libya, Mostafa Mihraje. They discussed ways of cooperating in the fields of labour and vocational rehabilitation for youth, as well as people with special needs.

During the meeting, the two parties also discussed ways to create jobs for people with special needs in the private sector. The meeting also touched on mechanisms for implementing the National Rehabilitation and Reintegration Project.

Ambassador Mihraje congratulated the Libyan people on the country’s Independence Day.

“On the occasion of the 71st anniversary of Libya’s independence, I extend my warmest congratulations and blessings to the Libyan people,” adding that he wished “Libyans the future they aspire to in terms of the unity, security, and sovereignty of Libya, and the achievement of freedom, democracy, and the rule of law.”

Notably, France’s Ambassador to Libya held a meeting with the Chairman of Libya’s High National Election Commission (HNEC), Emad Al-Sayeh, to discuss ways to expedite the holding of Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

Mihraje described the talks as “constructive exchanges”, reiterating his support for the electoral commission to hold free and transparent elections in the country.

He also affirmed his support for the efforts of the United Nations (UN) Envoy, and the Libyan Presidential Council in finding solutions that would lead the country to stability and elections. He confirmed that France “supports all solutions that come with a comprehensive agreement in which all parties participate.”

Mihraje said that Paris will play a positive role in reaching an agreement to stabilise Libya. The agreement aims to pave the way for holding elections according to a constitutional basis, the results of which are approved by all political parties.
