Libyan Tribes Call for Supporting Libyan Army to Remove Mercenaries

The Spokesman for the Supreme Council of Libyan Tribes, Al-Mabrouk Bu Amid demanded that the Libyan National Army (LNA) be empowered to remove and expel mercenaries from the country.

In press statements, the tribal leader claimed that “the conflicting parties in Libya did not abide by the Skhirat Agreement and its provisions. The terms of the agreement confirmed the unity and sovereignty of Libya. It also stipulated the commitment to the constitutional declaration, and the drafting of the constitution, and equality between Libyans, in addition to the state’s monopoly on arms.”

“Despite the agreements, the mercenaries brought to Libya wreaked havoc, and large sums of money were spent on the militias,” Bu Amid added.

He pointed out that the Libyan Parliament and the High Council of State (HCS) “only agree to waste time, and implement external orders.”

He also affirmed the need to “find an alternative solution for the stability of the country. The current stage requires imposing the LNA’s control and enabling it to remove mercenaries,” he concluded.

Notably, the Spokesman for the LNA, Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari claimed that “the army leadership did not compromise on the territorial integrity and security of the country.”

In press statements, Al-Mismari added that the LNA “rejected any alliance that undermined the country’s independence, security, and territorial integrity.”

“While many political forces in the Libyan arena bargained for the sake of their interests, by signing agreements, the army leadership dealt with all international endeavours seriously, and with cooperation to get the homeland to safety,” he added.

Al-Mismari explained that “a conspiracy facing the country is being hatched outside of it, due to the greed of international parties seeking to dominate the country’s wealth, under different names such as agreements signed with major countries.”

He warned against “manipulating the country’s social fabric, trying to dismantle the interdependence between the Libyan tribes, and destabilizing the country’s stability and security.”
