On Thursday, Libya’s National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) reported a new COVID-19 related death, bringing the country’s death toll from the virus to five.

In a statement, the NCDC added that the latest batch of 154 suspected samples had all tested negative for the virus.

The total number of confirmed cases in Libya remains at 99, with 33 active cases, 41 successful recoveries, and five deaths.

The Security Directorate in Sebha has imposed a curfew in the city for two weeks after a sudden surge in Coronavirus cases and a virus related death in the city.

Several Arab countries have tightened restrictions on movement and travel with the aim of curbing the spread of the virus.

Trillions of dollars have been pledged in economic stimulus packages around the world to reduce the economic repercussions of the crisis.
