On Monday Hafed Walda, Libya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), discussed the situation in Libya with Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO. One of the main topics on the agenda was how to combat hate speech in media outlets and on social media.

This came after Walda presented the Director-General UNESCO with an official letter accrediting himself as Permanent Representative of Libya.

According to the Facebook page of Libya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides also discussed the role that UNESCO could play in supporting heritage and education programmes in Libya, as well as several projects that are due to be implemented in the coming period.
