Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty held a meeting to discuss the latest developments in Libya and efforts to assist Libyans in achieving sustainable stability while preserving Libya’s unity and integrity.

The discussions also covered the bilateral relations between Egypt and Libya, and the status of the Egyptian community in Libya.

The meeting, which took place on Monday, was held with the Libya Department of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry as part of a review of evaluations from various departments in their respective fields, according to a statement from the ministry.

Abdel-Aty received a comprehensive assessment from officials handling the Libyan file at the ministry, emphasizing the need to give special attention to the situation in Libya due to its status as a neighbouring country with deep and historical ties to Egypt and its people.

Abdel-Aty reiterated that the security, stability, unity, and integrity of Libya are integral parts of Egypt’s national security. He stressed the importance of maintaining a strong focus on Libya, considering the intertwined destinies of the two nations.

On July 18, Cairo hosted a meeting of members from the Libyan House of Representatives and the High Council of State, which concluded with an agreement to form a new government responsible for conducting general elections.
