On Thursday, Speaker of Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) Ageela Saleh held a telephone call with US Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland in which they discussed the latest situation in the country.

During the talks, the duo also discussed supporting Libya’s sovereignty, enabling the National Oil Corporation (NOC) to resume operations, and achieving a negotiated, peaceful resolution to the conflict, beginning with the stabilization of the situation around Sirte and Jufra.

The Ambassador reiterated US opposition to all foreign military interference in Libya and support for UN-facilitated dialogue. Notably, the US Embassy in Libya stated that Ambassador Norland and Chargé d’Affaires Joshua Harris held a series of meetings this week to confirm their commitment to support credible, comprehensive, and secure elections in Libya.
