The Libyan Public Prosecution has initiated a public lawsuit against officials of the Libyan Committee for the Care of the Wounded in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for the period spanning from 2011 to 2017.

This action follows intensive investigations led by the Deputy Prosecutor at the Prosecutor General’s Office, which focused on scrutinizing the proper management of funds allocated for covering the costs of medical services in Jordanian hospitals.

The investigations revealed that committee officials misappropriated a sum of $250 million without providing the necessary documentation or invoices to verify the receipt of medical services. Additionally, it was confirmed that in 2012, a committee official misused $30 million without supplying a statement detailing the nature of the expenditure or the intended use of the funds.

After completing the interrogation of the committee officials during the specified period, including the financial auditor, the investigator decided to place them under provisional detention pending further investigation.

Furthermore, the Public Prosecution has commenced additional investigative measures against other committee members and individuals who may be connected to the discovered financial irregularities.

These actions are part of a broader effort to enhance transparency and hold accountable those responsible for financial misconduct, ensuring the preservation and proper allocation of public funds.

For more information, concerned parties are encouraged to follow updates from the Libyan Public Prosecution and official statements regarding the ongoing case.
