An Italian diplomatic delegation has visited Libya’s Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar (The Green Mountain) region to explore avenues for deeper cooperation in agriculture, cultural heritage, and scientific research.

The visit was initiated under the directives of Abdulhadi Al-Hwaij, the Foreign Minister of the Parliament-designate government. The delegation was received by Imran Muftah Hudouth, head of the Foreign Ministry’s office in the Green Mountain region. It was led by Riccardo Villa, Italy’s Deputy Consul to Libya.

The delegation’s visit included a tour of the Agricultural and Animal Research Centre in Al-Bayda. Discussions focused on expanding scientific and technical collaboration, as well as supporting the centre’s role in promoting sustainable agricultural development in Libya.

The Italian officials also toured the ancient city of Cyrene in Shahhat, a gesture that highlighted shared interest in cultural and archaeological cooperation. The two sides discussed opportunities to strengthen ties in heritage preservation and academic exchange.

This diplomatic mission is part of broader efforts to reinforce the strategic partnership between Libya and Italy. The focus on agriculture, research, and cultural engagement reflects a shared commitment to developmental projects that benefit both nations economically and culturally.

The visit marks a fresh step in the evolving Libya–Italy relationship, aligning with long-term goals to boost bilateral cooperation across key sectors.9
