Libya’s Chief of General Staff of the National Army (LNA), Lieutenant General Khaled Haftar, visited the Military Academy for Postgraduate and Strategic Studies – College of Leaders and Staff in Egypt this week. The visit underscores Libya’s commitment to enhancing the professional training of its armed forces and strengthening military cooperation with regional partners.

During his visit, General Haftar met with Libyan officers currently enrolled at the academy. He reviewed the ongoing educational programmes, training schedules, and curricula implemented at the institution. The LNA chief praised the high standard of instruction offered by the Egyptian academy, highlighting the critical role of well-trained officers in rebuilding and restructuring the Libyan National Army.

“Our officers must receive the best possible education to contribute effectively to national defence and security,” General Haftar said, emphasising the importance of practical and strategic training in shaping the future of Libya’s armed forces.

The visit also included tours of the academy’s classrooms, training facilities, and strategic planning departments. Officials from the Egyptian military briefed the Libyan delegation on the latest training techniques and strategic approaches adopted at the academy.

Khaled Haftar expressed his appreciation for the Egyptian military’s dedication to preparing Libyan officers for advanced leadership roles. He stressed that the skills acquired at the academy would significantly enhance the operational effectiveness and professional capabilities of Libya’s armed forces.

This engagement forms part of broader efforts to strengthen military ties between Libya and Egypt, ensuring continuity in professional development for Libyan officers. It also demonstrates Libya’s ongoing commitment to stability, security, and capacity building within its national defence institutions.
