“Zallaf” Launches Crude Exports from New Libyan Oil Field

Libya’s Zallaf Exploration and Production of Oil and Gas Company has announced the successful export of its first crude oil and condensate shipment from the Al-Shadar field, marking a new milestone for the state-owned energy sector. The shipment totalled more than 600,000 barrels of high-quality Sidra crude, according to the company’s operations department.

Zallaf described the export as a major achievement reflecting its continuous efforts since the field’s inauguration in January 2025. The company said the milestone aligns with its strategic plans to boost production levels through advanced technical and operational standards.

The Al-Shadar field is considered one of Zallaf’s most promising assets. More than five development wells have been completed as part of the project’s first phase, with ongoing work to further expand output. This progress supports the National Oil Corporation’s (NOC) broader vision of raising Libya’s overall oil and gas production capacity.

Zallaf’s board of directors expressed deep appreciation to the teams at the Al-Faragh field and Waha Oil Company for their continuous support and collaboration. The company also extended gratitude to all its employees, contractors, and partners who contributed to achieving this success, emphasising that the accomplishment symbolises determination and national commitment to advancing Libya’s energy industry.

A special note of thanks was directed to the NOC’s board for its consistent backing and close follow-up on Zallaf’s operations, despite ongoing challenges in the sector.

Industry observers see the successful export from Al-Shadar as a positive indicator of Libya’s efforts to stabilise and grow its oil output, a key driver of the country’s economy amid regional and global energy shifts.
