Libya’s National Oil Corporation held a technical meeting on Monday with the Italy-headquartered oil and gas giant ENI to review ongoing exploration activities and discuss the company’s proposed work plans for 2026.

The meeting took place at the NOC headquarters in Tripoli as part of the corporation’s annual review sessions with international partner companies.

According to the NOC, the discussions focused on the exploration and survey programs completed by Eni so far in 2025, as well as the projects currently underway in both onshore and offshore concessions.

The meeting provided a detailed overview of seismic surveys, exploratory drilling operations, and the geological and geophysical studies carried out by Eni in various Libyan basins.

Participants examined the progress of exploration campaigns aimed at identifying new hydrocarbon prospects and evaluating reservoir potential in key areas. The NOC emphasized the importance of maintaining strong technical cooperation with Eni, which remains one of Libya’s most significant energy partners and a leading operator in several major oil and gas fields across the country.

Eni presented its proposed exploration plans for 2026, which include expanding seismic acquisition programs, increasing exploratory drilling in selected blocks, and advancing subsurface studies to improve the understanding of Libya’s hydrocarbon resources. These efforts are expected to support the broader national strategy of enhancing production capacity, diversifying energy investments, and strengthening Libya’s role in global energy markets.

The meeting was attended by the Director of Exploration at the National Oil Corporation, his counterpart from Eni North Africa, and a team of engineers, geologists, and technical specialists from both sides. The discussions also touched on operational challenges, safety measures, and ways to improve the efficiency of exploration activities in both land and offshore environments.

The NOC reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with international partners to ensure that exploration and production programs continue at a steady and reliable pace. It stressed that ongoing cooperation with companies such as Eni is essential for sustaining Libya’s energy sector and supporting long-term economic stability.
