The Chairman of Libya’s National Oil Corporation, Masoud Suleiman, held talks with Malta’s Ambassador to Libya, Franklin Aquilina, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, with a particular focus on the energy, oil, and gas sectors.
The meeting reviewed opportunities to strengthen coordination between Libya and Malta in areas related to energy development, technical cooperation, and investment.
For his part, Suleiman emphasized the National Oil Corporation’s commitment to building balanced and sustainable partnerships with friendly countries, noting that Libya remains open to cooperation with international institutions and companies that possess the expertise needed to support the sector’s long-term growth.
Suleiman highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation beyond traditional frameworks, stressing that international partnerships play a key role in stabilizing production, improving operational efficiency, and supporting the modernization of Libya’s energy infrastructure. He also underlined the NOC’s efforts to reinforce Libya’s reputation as a reliable energy supplier in the Mediterranean region and global markets.
Meanwhile, Aquilina expressed Malta’s appreciation for the role of the National Oil Corporation in safeguarding Libya’s energy resources and maintaining production levels despite ongoing challenges. He reaffirmed Malta’s interest in developing closer energy ties with Libya and deepening economic relations between the two countries, particularly in sectors linked to energy security and regional cooperation.
Both sides also discussed practical measures aimed at facilitating cooperation, including easing visa procedures for professionals working in the oil and gas sector. Officials agreed that smoother mobility for technical staff and experts would enhance operational coordination and contribute to more effective collaboration between Libyan and Maltese entities.
