The Libyan Relief and Humanitarian Aid Authority has issued a warning over an active weather system expected to impact eastern Libya starting Friday, raising concerns about heavy rainfall and potential flash floods across several areas.

According to the authority, the approaching low-pressure system is likely to bring intense rainfall to the Green Mountain region, as well as the cities of Tobruk and Musaid. The conditions could lead to dangerous flooding, particularly in valleys and low-lying areas where water accumulation and fast-moving runoff pose significant risks.

In response, the authority has declared a state of maximum readiness across all its branches, preparing emergency teams and resources to respond swiftly to any developments. It also called on relevant government bodies and local agencies to enhance coordination and ensure full preparedness to mitigate the potential impact of the severe weather.

Residents in affected areas have been urged to follow safety guidelines, avoid flood-prone zones, and refrain from crossing waterlogged roads. Officials stressed that early precautions are critical to safeguarding lives and reducing damage to property during such weather events.

The warning comes amid growing concerns over the increasing frequency and intensity of seasonal weather systems affecting eastern Libya. Authorities underline that proactive measures and public awareness remain key to minimizing risks and ensuring an effective emergency response if conditions worsen.
