International reactions to the ceasefire agreement in Libya have continued, as the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, welcomed the ceasefire agreement in Libya that was signed Friday in Geneva, under the auspices of the United Nations.

In a tweet via his Twitter account, Faki called for all parties to respect the letter and spirit of this important development.

“The Libyan people deserve a permanent respite from conflict in order to begin the process of reconciliation & peacebuilding in the country,” he added.

UN Acting Envoy to Libya, Stephanie Williams, said that all mercenaries and foreign fighters are supposed to leave Libya within 3 months of the signing of the ceasefire agreement throughout Libya.

Williams added that there are good indications that the two oil facilities in Ras Lanuf and Sidra will be ready to resume production in a short period.

The Libyan Joint Military Committees signed a permanent ceasefire agreement after talks in Geneva under the auspices of the United Nations.
