The Chief of the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6), Richard Peter Moore, held talks with the Egyptian President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi on Monday.

The two sides discussed solutions to resolve crises in Libya, the eastern Mediterranean, as well as regarding illegal migration.

The Egyptian Presidency said Cairo supports a political solution to resolve the Libyan crisis. He called for respecting the sovereignty of Libya and urged the warring parties to commit to the ceasefire agreement.

El-Sisi stressed the need for unified efforts to uproot terrorism through upholding the values of citizenship, combating extremist ideology, and development.

Mr. Moore appreciated the President’s efforts to consolidate regional security and stability, combat terrorism and illegal migration. He expressed the UK’s keenness to maintain coordination with Egypt to overcome these various challenges, especially the situation in the Middle East, the eastern Mediterranean, and Africa.
