On Saturday, the Libyan Interior Ministry of the Government of National Accord (GNA) decided to resume activities at the Wazzin Border Crossing with Tunisia after months of closure due to the coronavirus outbreak in the two countries.

In a statement, the ministry said that the decision to reopen Wazzin land port aims to facilitate the movement of citizens between the two countries, starting today according to the protocol agreed upon between the Libyan and Tunisian authorities.

The opening of the crossing comes after joint Tunisian-Libyan negotiation sessions. The resumption of cross-border activity will be arranged in accordance with a joint health protocol set by the Tunisian and Libyan official authorities for the land crossings in order to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

On Saturday, Tunisia said that it is scheduled to resume flights between Tunisia and Libya next week after a hiatus of 8 months due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Notably, the Libyan Airports Authority stressed the necessity of wearing face masks and maintaining social distance, in addition to undergoing PCR tests within no more than 3 days before travelling and signing a written pledge to self-isolate for 10 days.

It also indicated that the travellers from both countries will also be asked to fill out a form with their personal information.
