On Saturday, the Speaker of the Moroccan Parliament, Al-Habib Al-Maliki, extended an invitation to his Libyan counterpart, Ageela Saleh, and a number of Libyan Members of Parliament (MPs), from both Tripoli and Tobruk, to meet in Rabat. These consultative talks are part of Morocco’s efforts to build bridges among Libyans.

In a message, Al-Maliki clarified that the call falls within the framework of Moroccan efforts to bring the Libyan legislative institutions together and enable them to carry out the tasks entrusted to them. He also stressed the Kingdom’s keenness to assist the Libyan people in achieving their desired stability.

The Moroccan Parliament Speaker also affirmed, “The Moroccan leadership and people stand behind our Libyan brothers to overcome their current ordeal and support their efforts to achieve their aspirations for a modern, democratic, and civil state where people will enjoy stability, prosperity, and prosperity.”

Last week, the UN-brokered political talks between Libyan rivals ended without reaching a firm agreement. The talks are over mechanisms for choosing a new government. The UN Support Mission in Libya’s (UNSMIL) Acting Head, Stephanie Williams, announced that political consultations would resume after a week. The meeting will be held via video conference.
