Head of the Libyan Presidential Council (PC), Mohamed Al-Mnifi and his two deputies, Abdullah Al-Lafi and Mousa Al-Koni discussed the establishment of a commission for national reconciliation, during a consultative meeting that took place on Monday.

During the meeting, Al-Mnifi stressed the need to expedite the establishment of the commission, in order to lay down a foundation to achieve a comprehensive national reconciliation that brings together all Libyans. They presented the proposed outlines of the commission’s work, its organizational structure, goals, and terms of reference.

During the meeting, the PC stressed that achieving a comprehensive national reconciliation that brings together all Libyans is at the top of their priorities. They described it as a “foundation stone” for building a unified civil state.

The PC was elected after a run-off vote by members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) in Geneva. The election came a few weeks after Libyan parties at UN-backed talks in Hurghada, agreed to hold a constitutional referendum before the elections in December.
