On Wednesday, Head of Libya’s Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Mnifi held bilateral talks with Greek President, Katerina Sakellaropoulou and Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis during his official visit to Athens, on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Al-Mnifi underscored the need to activate joint cooperation mechanisms, especially in the field of electricity and renewable energy.

The discussions focused on “enhancing bilateral relations, as well as all outstanding issues, and exchanged views on issues of common concern.”

Al-Mnifi expressed his gratitude for the reopening of the Greek Embassy in Tripoli, and the Consulate in Benghazi. He expressed a desire to consolidate the economic, cultural, educational and security partnership between the two countries. He stressed that “the opportunity given by the existence of the Government of National Unity (GNU) to strengthen relations and translate them on the ground would be through establishing partnerships and implementing projects that benefit both countries.”

Last week, Prime Minister Mitsotakis confirmed the restoration of diplomatic relations with Libya, the increase of diplomatic representation, and the opening of airspace between the two states.
