Libya Reconstruction Needs 1 Million Egyptian Workers

The Division of recruiting Egyptian employment abroad at the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, confirmed that the Libyan market’s needs for labour from Egypt are estimated at one million workers with the reopening of aviation.

A member of the Board of Directors of the division, Abdel-Rahim Al-Morsi said in statements that this would come with the return of regular movement of workers between the two countries. He indicated that the reconstruction of Libya, the market’s need for skilled and trained technical workers, and the size of the prospective projects has resulted in this estimate.

Al-Morsi added that the Libyan people prefer Egyptian workers for their skills, and the existence of extensive ties and business between the two countries. He pointed out that the recent period witnessed a resurgence in contact with Libya, whether via the various chambers or the Business Council.

Al-Morsi explained that the return of work in Libya may absorb the Egyptian workers that have left the Gulf, especially in light of the economic conditions given the decline in oil prices, and the closure of some markets as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. He stressed that the Libyan market may absorb a million and a half workers once reconstruction begins.
