Libyan MP, Al-Sayeda Al Yaqoubi stated that “after the Prime Minister of the outgoing Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba caused the failure of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF), and disrupted its economic committee, the 5 + 5 Joint Military Commission (JMC) has also suspended its work.”
“This is against the backdrop of the GNU’s failure in settling the Libyan crisis,” the MP added in a tweet on Sunday.
Al-Yaqoubi questioned, “How is Dbaiba trying to convince us that he is capable of conducting elections in coming June? He had stood behind the postponement of the 24 December elections, in addition to halting the municipalities’ elections in a flagrant violation of Law No. 59.”
“We all know that you are only working to gain time to remain in power,” the Libyan MP added.
Notably, the JMC demanded that the exportation of oil be halted, and for the closing of the Coastal Road. It called for the suspension of flights between eastern and western Libya, announcing that it would suspend its operations until their demands were considered.
The JMC accused Dbaiba of being behind the obstruction of its work. It added that the GNU failed to comply with the decisions of the Libyan Parliament, and cede power to a new government.
They accused the PM of reneging on his vows not to run for elections, financial corruption, looting of public money, and his family’s dominance over government decisions.
The statement denounced the failure to name a Defense Minister, and condemned the continued suspension of the salaries of military personnel, which “is a violation of the political agreement and human rights.”
