On Wednesday, four Libyan political blocs issued a formal appeal to Parliament Speaker Ageela Saleh, calling on him to immediately initiate the formation of a unified national government as a critical step toward ending the country’s prolonged political division and institutional fragmentation.

In an official letter, the blocs urged Saleh to assume responsibility for leading a new political phase that is driven by Libyan consensus, not foreign agendas or temporary arrangements.

They stressed that the current situation no longer allows for delays or reliance on shifting regional and international dynamics. “The time has come for decisive internal action,” the message stated.

The political groups emphasized that previous transitional stages have repeatedly failed to achieve lasting stability because they were built on externally imposed frameworks that lacked legitimacy among Libyans. These approaches, they said, excluded key actors, deepened mistrust, and worsened the national crisis.

The letter urged the formation of a comprehensive and inclusive government that can effectively manage the country’s current challenges, unify sovereign institutions, and deliver real solutions to citizens. The blocs described such a move as essential to restoring public confidence and preventing the further erosion of state authority.

Their appeal comes amid persistent political deadlock, with no clear roadmap for elections, rising public frustration, and growing calls for a national reset. The blocs argued that only a broad-based, united executive authority can break the cycle of fragmentation and put Libya back on a path toward stability and reconciliation.

The letter concluded by calling on Speaker Ageela Saleh to take bold, national leadership and launch a process rooted in inclusion, partnership, and national interest—one that reflects the will of the Libyan people, not the agendas of narrow political factions.
