On Friday, the Head of the Supreme Scientific Advisory Committee on COVID-19, Dr. Khalifa Al-Bakoush, confirmed that the COVID-19 vaccines will arrive in Libya on April 4th.

Al-Bakoush noted that the epidemiological situation is critical “but still stable,” explaining that there is a global monopoly on the COVID-19 vaccine.

Libya has contracted to purchase 12 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine that will arrive in succession from four international companies, according to the National Center for Disease Control in Libya (NCDC).

Libya requested 6 brands of vaccines, including the Pfizer Astrazhnica, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, the Russian Sputnik V, and the Chinese Sinopharm.

The war-torn country recorded a total of 149,000 cases of COVID-19 virus, including 2,435 deaths, and 136,000 recoveries.
