Prime Minister of Libya’s Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba received the UN Special Envoy to Libya, Jan Kubis at the cabinet headquarters in Tripoli, on Wednesday.

The United Nation Support Mission in Libyan (UNSMIL) said in a statement that the two discussed the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, and the deployment of UN ceasefire monitors.

“The meeting also touched upon the progress made so far in the political process, the state budget, and the steps needed for the holding of elections on 24 December 2021,” the statement added.

Prime Minister Dbaiba and Kubis also discussed the security situation in Libya, as well as the region following the latest developments in Chad. Kubis briefed Dbaiba on his recent talks in several countries in support of peace efforts in Libya. They also discussed the recently adopted UN Security Council Resolutions regarding the implementation of the October ceasefire agreement.
