UN Secretary-General: UN Envoy in Libya is Working Hard to End the Conflict and Confront Covid-19

On Tuesday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that his envoys in Libya and Yemen (Stephanie Williams and Martin Griffiths) were working with concerned parties in both countries to urge them to commit to the agreed upon ceasefires and provide a space for efforts to confront the threat posed by Covid-19.

Guterres had previously launched an international call to stop hostilities around the world, to which many warring parties across the globe responded positively. However, the UN Secretary-General said that “Unfortunately, there is a difference between those parties declaring their readiness to cease fire, and a real and effective commitment on the ground .”
