US Dollar Falls Against Libyan Dinar

Prices for the US dollar and several other foreign currencies declined against the Libyan dinar (LYD) during Wednesday’s transactions in Libya’s black market.

The dollar declined to 6.120 LYD while the Euro fell to 6.750 LYD, eroding gains made in the previous 48 hours.

The Turkish lira fell to a record 0.85 against the Libyan dinar.

The current exchange rates are reported below:

Pound Sterling = 7.70 LYD
Tunisian Dinar = 2.217 LYD
Egyptian Pound = 0.39 LYD
Jordanian Pound = 8.50 LYD

The ongoing oil blockade, coupled with foreign interference and the effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic, have all served to prolong the conflict in Libya.

These factors have severely undermined the country’s fiscal revenue and economic growth.
