Chairman of HOR’s Defence Committee Condemns International Silence Over Turkish Interference in Libya

The chairman of the Defence and National Security Committee in the Libyan Parliament, Talal Al-Mihoub, has condemned the international community’s silence towards Turkish interference in Libyan affairs.

Al-Mihoub said in press statements that Turkey is causing chaos in Libya by supporting the Government of National Accord(GNA) in order to “take control of the Mediterranean and threaten the European Union”.

The chairman also demanded Tunisia not to be allowed to be a transit point for weapons and foreign intervention into Libya.

In December 2019, Turkey signed with the GNA, which is an interim non-elected government that is recognised by the United Nations, two MoUs on defence, and gas drilling in the Mediterranean.

Since January, Turkey has been transporting Syrian mercenaries into the North African state and has sent military officers and experts to command the operations rooms of the militias affiliated to the GNA.
