On Friday, the Ethiopian Prime Minister Abi Ahmed warned of a deteriorating situation in his country due to the protests.

“If Ethiopia becomes like Syria and Libya, everyone will lose,” Abi Ahmed said in a speech to the Ethiopian Parliament.

Ethiopia has recently been plagued by internal turmoil and protests that have killed hundreds. Such protests have been described as threatening the position of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abi Ahmed, a Nobel Peace Prize winner.

These protests came after the killing of the famous Ethiopian singer Hachalu Hundessa, who is famous for providing songs defending the freedom of Oromo, the largest ethnic group in Ethiopia which suffers from marginalisation.
