The National Oil Corporation (NOC) of Libya has announced the launch of the second phase of its “Think for Tomorrow” reforestation campaign in the Oil Crescent region. This initiative, aimed at planting one million trees, is under the supervision of the NOC’s Sustainable Development Department.

According to the NOC’s media office, this campaign is part of the vision of NOC Chairman Farhat Bin Qadara, who seeks to strengthen environmental efforts and achieve sustainability in Libya.

The launch event was attended by Hamed Abdul Salam, Director of the Sustainable Development Department, alongside members of the board from the Sirte Oil and Gas Production and Manufacturing Company. The event also saw enthusiastic participation from students at Arqoub Primary School and Ibn Nafis Secondary School.

This phase of the campaign focuses on several key sites in the Oil Crescent, including Zones 1 and 2 at the Sirte Company, New Brega City, Arqoub, and Khur Awqayda. Future plans aim to extend the campaign to the areas of Al-Aqila, Bishr, Al-Araessa, and Brega Marsa.

The campaign’s goals are to combat desertification, improve air quality, mitigate climate change effects, and raise awareness about the importance of reforestation within local communities. This national initiative reflects the NOC’s commitment to a sustainable and environmentally prosperous future in Libya.
