On Saturday, Libya’s Foreign Minister in the Parliament-designate government, Abdel-Hadi Al-Hwaij, reaffirmed his ministry’s full support for cultural initiatives aimed at reinforcing national identity and promoting the values of peaceful coexistence across Libyan society.

The statement came during a meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Benghazi, attended by senior officials from the cultural and international cooperation sectors.

The meeting brought together the Director-General of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Culture and Arts, the Director of the Libyan Center for Local Cultures, the Director of the African Research and Studies Center, the Director of International Cooperation, and the Minister’s Chief of Staff.

Al-Hwaij emphasized that cultural diversity is one of the foundations of national unity and a key pillar for building a stable, inclusive society. He reiterated the Ministry’s readiness to support all upcoming cultural forums and initiatives led by the Ministry of Culture, noting their crucial role in fostering dialogue, mutual respect, and a shared sense of identity among Libyans.

He added that promoting culture and encouraging civilizational dialogue are essential traits of modern, progressive societies, and that these values form the basis of peace, stability, and long-term development, not just in Libya, but globally.

Al-Hwaij also praised the Ministry of Culture for its continued efforts in highlighting Libya’s cultural heritage, particularly through supporting book fairs and encouraging local artistic and intellectual talent.

He commended the work of the Libyan Center for Local Cultures and the African Research and Studies Center, describing them as leading institutions within Libya’s emerging knowledge economy. He noted their contributions to preserving Libya’s Islamic and human heritage and their efforts in producing programs that build cultural awareness both nationally and internationally.

Al-Hwaij concluded by reaffirming his ministry’s commitment to partnering with cultural and academic institutions to elevate Libya’s cultural profile, promote national cohesion, and support a vision of Libya rooted in dialogue, diversity, and shared values.
