The Education Directorate in Jadu announced the suspension of classes across all public and private educational institutions, including basic and secondary schools, as well as kindergartens, due to rising cases of seasonal influenza. The decision was issued by the Education Supervisor in coordination with the Health Care Office in Jadu following a joint meeting attended by the Director of Jadu General Hospital and the Head of the Paediatrics Department.

The statement confirmed that the temporary shutdown aims to curb infection rates and prevent further spread among students and teaching staff. Classes will be halted from 12 December until 15 December, with studies scheduled to resume on 16 December.

Authorities stressed that school administrators must utilise this suspension to disinfect facilities, improve ventilation and ensure that classrooms are ready to receive students safely. The directive also reflects growing concerns over the rapid increase in flu cases in recent days, prompting health officials to recommend preventive action across the education sector.

Parents were urged to monitor their children’s health and avoid sending students experiencing symptoms to schools once classes resume. Local health teams will continue monitoring developments and may recommend further measures if infection levels remain high.

The Education Directorate extended wishes of recovery to affected pupils and teachers, asking the community to adhere to health guidelines until full stability is achieved.
