Turkish MoD Receives GNA’s MoD in Ankara

Turkish Defence Minister, Hulusi Akar, received his Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) counterpart, Salah Al-Din Al-Namroush in Ankara.

According to a statement by the GNA, the meeting comes within the framework of strengthening, supporting, and developing bilateral cooperation between the two Ministries of Defence.

Akar stressed the continuation of Turkish support, in the form of training activities, military and security advice to the GNA. He also reiterated Turkey’s position on the “legitimate and the internationally recognised Libyan government, to achieve lasting security and stability.”

Al-Namroush also visited Libyan cadets, sent to complete their studies at the Military College in Ankara.

On the 29th of August, the Presidential Council of the GNA, appointed Al-Namroush as Minister of Defence. Al-Namroush had been previously serving as the Undersecretary of Defence.
