The United States Embassy in Libya has said that the involvement of American companies in Libya is helping generate economic opportunities, particularly within the country’s energy sector.

In a statement, the embassy highlighted the role of HKN Energy, through its subsidiary HWP, in deploying advanced US technologies to treat oil waste lagoons. The initiative aims to address long-standing environmental challenges while improving operational efficiency in oil fields.

According to the embassy, these efforts contribute to land rehabilitation and environmental recovery, while also supporting safer and more efficient energy production processes. The use of modern technologies is aligned with strict safety and environmental protection standards.

The embassy added that the presence of US companies in Libya strengthens bilateral economic cooperation and supports the development of the country’s oil and gas sector. It noted that such investments not only enhance production capabilities but also create job opportunities and deliver tangible benefits to local communities.

The statement underscores growing interest from international firms in Libya’s energy market, as the country seeks to modernise infrastructure and maximise output from its vast oil reserves.

Observers say partnerships with foreign companies, particularly those bringing technical expertise and environmental solutions, could play a key role in revitalising Libya’s energy industry and supporting broader economic recovery.
